A Healthy & Low Fat Sorbet Recipe Just For You
These days, you can find a lot of low-fat sorbet (ice cream) recipes. However, I prefer sherbet or sorbet recipes that are non-fattening and delicious. I don’t mind about its technicalities.
If you’re like me who is on the lookout for delicious and low-fat sorbet recipes, here’s a really tasty sherbet recipe for you and your guests. Sorbet/ice cream will continue to be that fun and yummy dessert still much loved by all.
Orange & Rhubarb Surprise
Ingredients
1 med. orange
Slices of orange for decoration
1 tsp gelatin (powdered)
12 ounces rhubarb
1 tbsp honey
Rhubarb should be trimmed and then sliced into 1-inch in length slices. Place the slices inside your pan then don’t add water into it. Grate orange rind then squeeze juice out.
Add around half your OJ as well as those orange rinds that were grated into your pan which contains the slices of rhubarb & just let mixture simmer ’til rhubarb softens up and is already tender. Next, add in honey.
Your remaining half of the OJ should be heated up then sprinkle gelatin onto mixture until it’s completely dissolved. Add this mixture to your simmering rhubarb. After mixing them all together, place mixture to your ice cream maker cylinder then freeze mixture as per manufacturer’s instructions. If by any chance you don’t own an ice cream maker then do the ff steps.
Just place all of your mixture inside a container that is designed for freezing then freeze mxture for around 2 hrs or until it achieves a slushy consistency. Take out mixture from your freezer then beat really well for ice crystals to crumble into fine pieces. Put it back into your freezer again then freeze until mixture turns firm.
Let sorbet mixture soften a bit in room temp before you serve it to your guests.
Some notes about the yummy rhubarb. It’s mostly pink in color and naturally sweet in taste but if you happen to get some that aren’t sweet, then just add a little bit of honey for taste into your mixture.
The sorbet is really tasty and a delightfully light dessert right after a filling meal. During wintertime when really rich and heavy meals are being served on the tables, a sorbet makes for that fun and yummy dessert or it can also be used to cleanse your palate in between each course during a meal.
Go ahead and make this really tasty and yummy dessert for your friends or family. It’s low in fat & will really taste great. For sure it’ll be worth your while to see that lovely smile of contentment from your kids and friends when they get to sample this delicious creation that you made.
If you want to add in more flavors, you can add lots of other fruits to your mix. You just need to be sure that they will match the taste of those other fruits like the rhubarb & orange that you already put in there
