10 Fun Twists To Make Your Ice Cream Never Boring
Everybody enjoys scooping ice cream/sorbet during summer days. But eating this frozen sweet will be more enjoyable and interesting when you combine a slight twist to its flavor and presentation. Below are some 10 easy tips on how to transform your plain sorbet/ice cream to a mouth-watering treat.
1. The Nuts – It’s an easy way to add some twists in your chilled dessert. Just purchase a pack of nuts (mixed is also acceptable). Poke a tiny hole on the package and let the air escape from the pack of nuts.
When there is no more air inside the package, get something to crush the nuts inside the pack. After your nuts are completely crushed, you can now sprinkle or mix some nuts such as almonds and cashew over your ice cream.
2. Coconut & Strawberry – Either of the two are a good addition to your plain sorbet/ice cream. However, one way to create a more delectable sorbet/ice cream is by having chopped strawberries then put them inside your mixer together with the sorbet/ ice cream (vanilla flavor is recommended). Finally, add some flakes from coconut and serve. Keep in mind not to overdo the mixing.
3. Sauces – Many people like the idea of putting sauce/syrup over their desserts. However, making the common strawberry or chocolate sauce/syrup can be tiring. So, you can use sauces such as lemon syrup/sauce, syrup, apple syrup/sauce, caramel syrup/sauce, choco-mocha sauce, rhubarb syrup/sauce and honey.
4. Honey, Choco and Marshmallow – Get one pack of small marshmallows. Get the suggested vanilla flavored ice cream and little by little combine the two. You can also add some crushed choco bar and little squirts of syrup/honey. You can decorate it with few small twigs of cool fresh mints. You can serve this especially when you want impress your loved ones or guests.
5. Banana-Splits – Obviously, this trick is easy. You just peel a banana then cut it lengthwise. Put the sliced banana onto a dessert bowl or plate and put some servings of vanilla or chocolate ice cream. You can garnish it with few squirts of syrup or cream over sliced banana. Then top it using a dash of crushed nuts such as almonds or cashew, and some squirts of strawberry syrup or sauce.
6. Peanut Butter- Jelly – Get some of your vanilla flavored ice cream/sorbet then put few spoonfuls of delicious peanut spread. You can also add some jelly and gradually blend them. When you combine anything with your sorbet/ice cream, always blend the mixture slowly. You can serve it in small or big bowls with few wafers on the side and crushed nuts on top.
7. Apricot – When you like apricots, you will surely like this treat. Simply, get some apricots (dried). Slice it into small pieces/cuts and blend with your plain sorbet/ice cream. You may serve it with few squirts of apricot syrup/sauce. It’s a perfect dessert on summer weather.
8. Cookies – Aside from being a great snack, cookies can also add twist to your plain chilled desserts. You do this by simply getting cookie chips (ice cream) or prepare your choco-chip cookie. Break the cookies in small parts and blend into your sorbet/ice cream. A caramel syrup or sauce is a good finishing touch.
9. Fresh Cool Mints – I personally love this twist. I truly appreciate the fresh cool mint taste. Here’s the process. Get like six to seven little twigs of cool fresh mints then mince it. You may use a food processor for this. Just mix the vanilla flavored sorbet/ice cream with these chopped mints. Then place it again inside the chiller or fridge for half an hour.
10. Rum-and-Raisin – You just have to soak two handfuls of dried grapes (raisins) into a container with rum for 24 hours (overnight). Combine the dried grapes (raisins) and your rum on your plain sorbet/ice cream. Don’t worry if the color changes, it’s normal. Please never drive after having some servings of this treat.
